Community & Corporate Partners are an essential component of our programs here are Habitaty York. There are various ways that are Community & Corporate Partners support our affordable housing initiatives for families in York Region.

Adopt-a-Home - $250,000

Adopt-a-Home provides a unique opportunity for donors. Through this program, you will be making an investment in the future of York Region families, and as a result the community. When you build a home for a family at Habitat York, you open the doors to several other families. When a Habitat family pays their mortgage, it not only builds equity and their own future, but payments go into a revolving fund to build more family homes.

Adopt-a-Home can be utilized as part of your current community fundraising initiatives and corporate responsibility programs. The $250,000 fundraising goal includes the purchase of land, building materials, and contracting specialized trades for one Habitat Home for a York Region Family. This gift can be pledged over 3-4 years if required. Corporate donors can choose to have their gift donated throught their corporate giving program and/or have a portion of the gift come through staff fundraising initiatives. Staff can choose from a variety of fundraising methods including but not limited to: work place campaigns, event fundraising such as BBQ’s, bake sales, Holiday craft sales, and challenges to clients to “sponsor” staff in their fundraising efforts. Habitat York will support your fundraising efforts as required.

Once the fundraising goal has been met, C-I-L can then be involved with the groundbreaking and team building of the home. Building a Habitat Home provides a unique team building opportunity. Staff can volunteer throughout the build process of your sponsored home. This extraordinary volunteer build project will be that much more powerful, with the knowledge that you and your team has made another home possible for a York Region family.

Adopt-a-Home - Shares

Adopt-a-Home – Shares is the opportunity for donors to adopt a portion of a home build project (i.e. bathrooms, kitchen, etc.) The donation for each room would include the building materials, appliances, etc. needed to furnish the room, and the appropriate specialized trades (i.e. plumbing, electricians, etc.). Like the Adopt-a-Home initiative, this can also pledged over 3-4 years if required. Staff/community members can also be involved in building their room.
