Executive Director:  Nancy Van Kessel

Please let me introduce myself; my name is Nancy Van Kessel and I joined Habitat York Region as the new Executive Director on December 1, 2008.

Firstly, I want to express how happy I am to be here and how I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team of employees, volunteers and the Board of Directors at Habitat York Region. I was a Board member prior to assuming the Executive Director role, and have volunteered here as well, so can say with confidence that we have a great team here ready to grow our operations and serve more families in need in York Region.

I came to Habitat after spending many years in the corporate sector, in strategic planning, operations, project and product management roles. I realized that I needed a career change to do something that really matters in order to be personally fulfilled and am looking forward to bringing my professional business experience from larger organizations to Habitat.

Habitat York Region has aggressive plans for growth, and I will be working with the team to develop the strategic and operational plans and governance processes to help us achieve our goals. We have come a long way to date, and have the potential to go even further. I will keep you posted as to progress, and welcome any questions or comments that you have.
