Information Sessions scheduled for Feb & March Habitat for Humanity York Region is now accepting applications to purchase the two homes we will build in Keswick, Ontario this spring. All potential Habitat York Partner Families are required to attend a Home Ownership Information Session; mortgage applications will be distributed to attendees following the session. Session dates are as follows: Monday February 27, 2012 Wednesday February 29, 2012 Monday March 26, 2012 Wednesday March 28, 2012 Interested families only need to attend one of the above sessions. Local Grade 6 Student Runner-Up in National Writing Contest Release Date: January 24, 2012 Habitat for Humanity York Region is pleased to announce that Sofia Vavaroutsos, grade 6 student at St. Clement Catholic Elementary School, Woodbridge, is a runner-up in the Genworth Financial national writing contest "Meaning of Home". Sofia will direct her $5,000 grant from the contest sponsor to Habitat York to assist with the upcoming build project in Keswick, Ontario. To read the entire press release, click here. A great time was had by all at the January 24th showing of Welfarewell by the Curtain Club Theatre of Richmond Hill! A total of 26 Habitat York supporters enjoyed the show, raising over $350 for our next build project in Keswick, Ontario. For the full press release, click here. World of Feng Shui donates $425 to Habitat York Habitat York gratefully acknowledges the support of World of Feng Shui in Vaughan. The "stylish good luck store", located at Tuscany Place, Vaughan Mills (3175 Rutherford Rd, #6, Vaughan), held its Grand Opening Celebration on October 1st, and graciously donated a portion of the day's proceeds to Habitat York. The proceeds of this donation will be directed to our upcoming build project in Keswick; construction of two semi-detached homes should beging in early spring 2012. Habitat York could not achieve its mission to end the cycle of poverty through home ownership without the support of individuals and businessess in the local community, as demonstrated by the generousity of World of Feng Shui.
