The Role of Habitat Leaders
Habitat for Humanity York Region is always looking for people with strong leadership skills to supervise and guide volunteers during a build day. Construction/Renovation experience is an asset but not a necessity.
Crew Leaders help direct and organize the many individuals and corporate groups that come out to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity York Region build sites. Their care, encouragement and, of course, leadership, make daily production and progress possible. Crew Leaders are also “The Face of Habitat” to new volunteers; they are educators, advocates for the mission, and often our best ambassadors.
If you would like to be a Crew Leader, your leadership skills must be assessed by the Site Supervisor. The first step is to schedule a build shift and speak with the Site Supervisor before and after your shift. If the Site Supervisor thinks that you would be a good Crew Leader, he will ask you to do a Shadow Shift next time. You may be asked to do several Shadow Shifts.
To be scheduled for a build shift, please contact volunteer@habitatyork.ca or call 905-868-8722.
